What is
'The Groove Selection'?
The Show
The Groove Selection was created by Mike Mitchell and first aired in January 2020 on community radio station Uckfield FM. As the station grew, it became Ashdown Radio, broadcasting across East Sussex.
Featuring the very best in R&B, soul, disco, funk, garage and soulful house, The Groove Selection delivers feel-good music with a carefully curated mix of timeless classics, forgotten favourites and quality new releases.
During the live show, Mike hosts the popular 'What's My Name?' feature – a guess-the-artist game that gets listeners involved and interacting. There's also time to unwind with three sexy slow jams, along with 'Say It Again', a feature where Mike plays an original track followed by a song that has sampled it.
Mike both produces and presents the show, delivering a polished, professionally packaged programme each week. Broadcast every Friday evening on Ashdown Radio, The Groove Selection reaches listeners across East Sussex on FM, as well as online around the UK and beyond. The show is also available for syndication to other radio stations as a fully produced and packaged show, which can be scheduled at a time that best suits your station, wherever it is based.
